Why didn't any Democrats vote against the Cybertyranny legislation?
http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2010/roll043. xml

The House of "Representatives" passed new legislation recently which expands the police state to the Internet. This type of tyrannical anti-Internet legislation is something which I would think liberals would oppose. In recent days, Google has collaborated with the NSA and the left is silent.

Fortunately, there were a few members of Congress who actually voted against the Cybertyranny bill. All 5 of them were Republicans. They were Paul Broun (R-GA10), Jeff Flake (R-AZ6), Louie Gohmert (R-TX-1), Ron Paul (R-TX-14), and Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI-5). Obviously, one would expect Ron Paul to oppose such legislation, as he is well known for his rock-solid voting record on the Bill of Rights. Flake and Broun are probably, after Paul, the 2 most libertarian-leaning Republicans in Congress. It is a pleasant surprise that Gohmert and Sensenbrenner voted against this legislation.

However, what is truly striking is that no Democrats voted against this legislation. Even Congressman Kucinich voted for it. It is certainly worrying that the left has thrown its previous support for civil liberties down the memory hole, just as the right threw its opposition to nation-building down the memory hole after Bush flip-flopped on that issue.

Even more worrying, the UN and Time Magazine have recently been lobbying for an Internet equivalent of the drivers license (see: http://rawstory.com/2010/01/agency-calls -global-cyberwarfare-treaty-drivers-lice nse-web-users/ and http://curiouscapitalist.blogs.time.com/ 2010/01/30/drivers-licenses-for-the-inte rnet/ ).

Why is the left silent as the Internet is coming under attack?

soundspretty anti-freedom of speech to me. if it’s true, then the Democrats are WRONG on this.

These are the days of the wild, wild west Internet. We’re going lose many Internet freedoms to these dictators.

Whenever I’ve seen a question concerning this, I always think it says "cybertranny". lol

So you and your five Republicans are all for Kiddie Porn?

Did you see the count, then why didn’t repubs vote against it?

Wow, is your question ever a load of paranoid propaganda. Here’s the summary of HR 4061, which the questioner DIDN’T link….but only a roll call vote tally:

Official Summary
11/7/2009–Introduced.Cybersecurity Enhancement Act of 2009 - Directs specified federal agencies participating in the National High-Performance Computing Program to:
(1) transmit to Congress a cybersecurity strategic research and development plan and triennial updates; and
(2) develop and annually update an implementation roadmap for such plan. Provides for the award of computer and network security research grants by the National Science Foundation (NSF) in the research areas of social and behavioral factors, including human-computer interactions, and identity management. Instructs that applications for the establishment of Computer and Network Security Research Centers include how such Centers will partner with government laboratories, for-profit entities, other institutions of higher education, or nonprofit research institutions. Requires the NSF Director to carry out a program of awarding fellowships to encourage young scientists and engineers to conduct postdoctoral research in the fields of cybersecurity and information assurance, including the research areas under which computer and network security research grants are awarded. Requires the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) Director to convene a cybersecurity university-industry task force to explore mechanisms for carrying out collaborative R&D activities. Requires (currently, permits) the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Director to establish priorities for the development of checklists of settings and options that minimize security risks associated with computer systems that are, or are likely to become, widely used within the federal government. Requires:
(1) development or identification and revision or adaptation as necessary, of checklists, configuration profiles, and deployment recommendations for products and protocols that minimize such risks; and
(2) development of automated security specifications respecting checklist content and associated security related data. Ensures that any products developed under the National Checklist Program for any information systems, including the Security Content Automation Protocol, be disseminated to federal agencies Requires conducting of intramural security research activities under NIST’s computing standards program. Instructs the NIST Director to:
(1) ensure coordination of U.S. government representation in the international development of technical standards related to cybersecurity;
(2) implement a cybersecurity awareness and education program through the Manufacturing Extension Partnership program; and
(3) establish a program to support development of technical standards, metrology, testbeds, and conformance criteria with regard to identity management research and development.

There’s nothing in there that indicates "cybertyranny" to me, or that causes me any kind of concern for my privacy. Cybersecurity can be pretty important, for some things that are on the internet, and this is about researching it.

Your BS partisan question is pathetic. A vote on this bill has nothing to do with limiting civil liberties.

Can you dilute an ETG alcohol test? Have u passed a ETG Alcohol test? Please help.?
I’m was drug tested for work today and I drank till 11pm last night. I woke up early and sat in the sauna for two hours and drank about a gallon of water. I am prescribed to adderal so i took one when i woke up to speed up my metabolism. I had about 12 hours from when i drank and took the test. My urine was crystal clear and I urinated frequently. I know that will give a dilution but i’ve got an excuse for that. Is there anybody out there that has passed an etg test in similar circumstances?
